Developing and Sustaining an Immigration Program

Every day, the number of immigrants in need of quality, affordable legal assistance increases. Often, nonprofits are the only place in the community they can turn. Is your program up to the challenge?

Over three weeks, this introductory-level course will cover the basic components needed to run an effective immigration legal services program. Participants will learn best practices in staffing, case management and financial management, as well as strategies to acquire the necessary space, equipment and tools needed for an efficiently operating program. An optional session on Department of Justice Recognition and Accreditation will also be included.

NOTE: Access to recordings of the each session are included with your purchase of the three-day virtual workshop. Your complimentary access will be available until December 16, 2022. Certificates of attendance are only issued if you attend live workshops.

 


Participants will learn:

  • Importance of policies and procedures for their program;
  • Case intake and management strategies;
  • How to determine which client cases to accept;
  • How to avoid unauthorized practice of law;
  • How to set fees to obtain the best support for their program;
  • Best practices for staff supervision and retention; and
  • Strategies for working with funders.
