In-Person: Selected Issues in Family-Based Immigration

November 13 - 14, 2024 | CA MCLE: 11.25 hours

Event Description

This two-day, in-person event will offer sessions on selected issues in family-based immigration and feature several important guest presenters. It will include a presentation and question and answer session by representatives of the U.S. consulate’s Immigrant Visa Section, Ciudad Juarez (CDJ). This is a unique opportunity to ask consular officials questions related to immigrant visa processing at one of the busiest consulates in the world. In addition, National Visa Center (NVC) representatives will present and answer questions on the agency’s role in the immigrant visa process. The training will also include a panel discussion with local nonprofit agencies on their efforts and challenges at the border. For newer practitioners, the first day of the training will offer a fundamentals track on selected family-based issues.

Day One will include sessions on:

  • Immigrating through marriage
  • Filing a fiancé(e) petition and adjustment of status
  • Child Status Protection Act
  • Q and A with NVC
