Workshop Models: Making the Best of the Wait
Video file
About This Recording
Learn how workshop models can be used for different purposes including public education, pre-screening, document organization, scheduling for services and application completion. Hear presenters discuss ways to use workshop models for the current reality as we wait for a Supreme Court decision on President Obama’s executive actions for administrative relief, specifically expanded DACA and DAPA. There is much work to be done to prepare future applicants and hopefully serve them with application assistance.
As authorized providers of immigration legal services, we must think about new ways to provide representation or pro se assistance with applicants beyond our normal, day-to-day models of service. Many charitable immigration legal programs and community organizers, large and small, use workshop models in different forms to serve more people.
CLINIC staff, along with Elisa M. Sequeira, Director of National Civic Engagement Programs with NALEO Educational Fund, will present on what different workshop models look like, how to plan and conduct them, as well as share best practices, resources and tools available to aid in planning these models of service. There will also be an opportunity for questions.
