Did you know that the wrong immigration help can hurt? Due to the complexity of immigration law, even small mistakes can result in severe consequences to immigrants and jeopardize their future immigration status. 

Many immigrants are taken advantage of by fraudulent providers promising and charging for immigration benefits that they cannot actually deliver.  In addition to these fraudulent providers, immigrants can also be affected by unqualified assistance coming from well-intentioned helpers.

When immigrants in your community come seeking help, rather than providing legal advice or assisting immigrants in completing forms, caution them about the risks of seeking help from unqualified providers, encourage them to consult with an immigration attorney or BIA accredited representative, and encourage them to report suspected fraud!

Proveedores fraudulentos se aprovechan de muchos inmigrantes, prometiendo y cobrando por beneficios migratorios que realmente no pueden dar.  Además de estos proveedores fraudulentos, inmigrantes también pueden ser afectados por ayuda no calificada que proviene de personas quienes quieren ayudar con buenas intenciones.

Cuando inmigrantes en su comunidad llegan buscando ayuda, en vez de dar consejos legales o ayudarles con sus formularios, ¡adviértales sobre los riesgos asociados con buscar ayuda no calificada, anímeles a consultar con un abogado de inmigración o representante acreditado por el BIA, y anímeles a reportar sospecha de fraude!
