It’s that time again! CLINIC affiliate, FaithAction International House, held their largest annual celebration and bridge-building event, their Multicultural Thanksgiving.

Several hundred community members from around the world gather to participate in this tradition. Attendees enjoy food, singing and dancing, while celebrating their rich diversity and giving thanks for one another.  FaithAction has been hosting the Multicultural Thanksgiving for nearly two decades now.

As part of their Multicultural Thanksgiving tradition, members from the community bring in canned food and diapers for their newest neighbors in need, enough to last the winter season. They also bring a dish to share from their own culture or ancestry.

“It’s the most incredible homemade international buffet in North Carolina,” said Rev. David Fraccaro, executive director at FaithAction International House.

This is the longest running event of FaithAction’s “stranger to neighbor” integration model that aims to educate and connect Greensboro’s diverse community across lines of culture, nationality, and faith.  They hope the relationships formed here will motivate participants to put their faith into action, and to advocate alongside of their newest immigrant and refugee neighbors throughout North Carolina.

Fraccaro and his team have witnessed remarkable friendships that have blossomed from the Multicultural Thanksgiving and other stranger to neighbor events. “Through bridge-building events like this, we come to know and care for one another; and the more that happens, the more likely we will risk serving, loving, and protecting each other into the future.”

CLINIC applauds FaithAction for their continuous integration work in the community. We want to hear from you! Email lspeasmaker@cliniclegal.org to share how your community will celebrate Thanksgiving with your neighbors!
