This five-week training is designed as an introductory course on asylum law. It will provide an overview of asylum law and procedures, as well as offer tips on interviewing clients and advocating on their behalf.  This course will provide an in-depth analysis of the various protected grounds and other key issues, including particular social group, the one-year filing deadline and its exceptions, mandatory bars to eligibility, the protection screening process, withholding of removal, and relief under the Convention Against Torture.  The last part of the course will focus on preparing an asylum case from the initial interview through the various stages: the Asylum Office, Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, and Federal Court.
