Josette Ramirez is a staff attorney on the Training and Technical Assistance team at CLINIC. She began her career in immigration law in 2014 as a research assistant for an immigration detention study at University of Southern California Gould School of Law where she investigated and researched bond grant rates of detainees. She then worked as a law clerk for the Public Law Center's immigration team in Santa Ana, California. In 2016, she worked as a Law Fellow at CARECEN in Los Angeles, California, assisting with a wide range of affirmative case types. Ramirez began practicing law in January 2021 as an associate attorney at Franco Law Group in Los Angeles where she represented clients in both affirmative cases and in removal proceedings. She most recently worked as a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society of San Diego where she focused primarily on removal defense and complex affirmative cases.
Ramirez attended UCLA School of Law where she specialized in critical race studies. At UCLA she also worked for the VAWA/U-Visa and Youth Deportation Defense clinics. She is admitted to practice law in the state of California and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
