Elizabeth Carlson

Carlson is a Supervising Senior Attorney at CLINIC. She provides training and legal support to member agencies and other organizations nationwide and is based in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining CLINIC in 2021, Elizabeth worked as a staff attorney at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington in its Immigration Legal Services section. She provided direct representation in naturalization, family-based applications, asylum and immigration court proceedings.
Prior to joining Catholic Charities, Carlson worked for several years as an associate attorney at Maggio + Kattar, a boutique immigration law firm in Washington, D.C. Her practice focused on family-based immigration, humanitarian immigration relief and deportation defense. She also served for two years as a judicial law clerk and attorney advisor at the New York Immigration Court, where she drafted decisions for the immigration judges.
She is fluent in Spanish and is barred in New York and the District of Columbia. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law.
