Lugo joined CLINIC in September 2019 as a Paralegal in the Religious Immigration Services section. Before joining CLINIC, she worked for private immigration law firms as an immigration paralegal, focusing on removal defense, affirmative asylum, consular processing and family-based immigration matters.
A native Spanish speaker, Lugo often accompanied attorneys to immigration courts, where she translated for both attorneys and their clients. She also volunteered her services for applicants needing translators at their USCIS interviews. Prior to moving to Maryland in 2014, Ms. Lugo volunteered at a nonprofit organization in New York, where she translated a variety of documents for local residents.
Lugo earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Mexico City.
