  • CLINIC Calls for Prayer and Solidarity After Tragic Dallas ICE Facility Shooting

    “This tragedy is another reminder that our immigration system must be grounded in human dignity, safety, and respect,” said Anna Gallagher, CLINIC executive director. “We pray for all those whose lives have been forever altered by today’s events, and we recommit ourselves to the Gospel call to welcome the stranger and to protect life. Violence must never be allowed to define how we respond to migration. Instead, we are called to solidarity, compassion, justice, and welcome.”

  • CLINIC Decries Court Decision Permitting Race-Based Profiling and Arrests

    “This decision will only intensify the fear that our network’s immigrant clients are experiencing,” said Anna Gallagher, CLINIC’s executive director. “Stops and arrests that are purely race-driven or discriminatory against certain types of workers are an affront to justice. The communities our network serves are terrified to leave the house to attend to their basic needs, including the right to worship freely. Our Catholic faith calls us to minister to and stand by those who are vulnerable, frightened, and in need. It speaks radically to the dignity of all people regardless of race or immigration status, and thus we deeply oppose the terror-inducing tactics of targeted round-ups and arrests.”

  • CLINIC Laments “Unjust” Termination of 2021 Designation of TPS for Venezuela

    “We are disheartened by this decision, and deeply concerned for our Venezuelan neighbors,” said Anna Gallagher, CLINIC’s executive director. “As we have previously expressed, we believe that this move threatens the lives and safety of vulnerable people. As Catholics, we are called to look out for the weak and vulnerable. Venezuela remains highly unsafe, which our government recognizes in its own travel advisories. Rapid termination of TPS for Venezuela is unjust and unwarranted. We urge the administration to ensure that TPS holders have other opportunities for safety, or to change course.”

Promoting the Dignity of Immigrants With Affordable Legal Expertise

As it has for more than 30 years, CLINIC will fight for the rights of immigrants. CLINIC trains legal representatives who provide high-quality and affordable immigration legal services. We develop and sustain a network of nonprofit programs that serve over 500,000 immigrants every year. We cultivate projects that support and defend vulnerable immigrant populations by:

  • Providing direct representation for asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border and educating them about their rights;
  • Reuniting formerly separated families;
  • Increasing legal representation for those in removal proceedings and in detention;
  • Providing public education on immigration law and policies; and
  • Advocating for fair and just immigration policies that acknowledge the inherent dignity and value of all people.

History has taught us that people who step up can make a difference. We hope you will join us.
