Assessing Aggravated Felonies

Having an aggravated felony conviction renders noncitizens ineligible for most forms of relief. This panel will teach participants the steps to assess whether a crime is an aggravated felony, or if there are arguments that the crime falls outside the aggravated felony definition. The panelists will explain the categorical approach and modified categorical approach, and offer practical tips on conducting relevant research.
