Asylum Law Basics

As the administration continues its assault on vulnerable asylum seekers, immigration legal practitioners must be prepared to help them through the legal system. Practitioners new to the asylum process are encouraged to join presenters for a discussion on the basics of asylum law, including concepts of past persecution and well-founded fear, the five protected grounds and how to establish a nexus to these grounds, humanitarian asylum and bars to asylum. This session will also discuss filing tips and the affirmative and defensive asylum process.
