Immigration Program Manager, BIA
Catholic Charities CYO, San Francisco, CA
How many years have you spent working in immigration?
Why do you do this work?
I am an attorney in my country of origin, Cuba, and the legal field is my passion. Before coming to the United States, I lived in Sweden for a year as an undocumented alien. Having the legal background and having gone through the experience of being in need of legal help in a strange land gives me a very powerful incentive to do this job.
What do you love about your job?
It allows me to fulfill my passion for helping others with whom I share a bond: being an immigrant.
How do you engage CLINIC?
CLINIC attorneys have played a fundamental role in my formation as a legal representative. I have represented more than 250 immigrants in court proceedings for over a decade. I could have never done it without CLINIC.
