Project Case # 11-516-605
Child’s Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Deadlines: Master calendar hearing on 10/6/11 at 9:00a.m.
Potential Relief: Asylum (to explore)
Child is a 16 year old boy from El Salvador. He entered the U.S. in April of 2011. He has reunified with both his parents who he has not seen since he was very young. He was raised by his grandmother and lived with extended family. He knew his (maternal) grandfather but did not want to discuss his relationship to him. (May need to be explore relationship)
Child was the victim of an armed robbery on a bus. He also witnessed the murder of a neighbor who was burglarized. These incidents prompted him to flee El Salvador. He does not feel safe in El Salvador and he does not feel like his grandmother can care for him. She is ill sometimes. Many people in his neighborhood are closing down their businesses because gangs are charging them rent and threatening to kill them if it is not paid.
