Letter to Homeland Security decries proposal to separate parents and their children

Mar 29, 2017

CLINIC joined more than 180 national and local organizations in calling on Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly to reconsider a draft proposal to separate migrant parents from their children when they arrive at our borders. The letter calls the proposal cruel and inconsistent with the fundamental right to family unity; an unnecessary drain on resources and contrary to the stated objective of deterring families from making the journey to the U.S.

One quote: “To threaten families who are fleeing harm and legally seeking protection at our borders with family separation in order to deter their migration is cruel and unjust.”
