Whether through citizenship mentoring programs, citizenship ceremonies, or positive communications, there are many ways in which refugees and the receiving community can be encouraged to come together to support our nation’s newest members.
CLINIC’s text4refugees project is an innovative effort to reach more refugees and asylees in a unique way – through their cell phones. Research shows that even newly arrived refugees have cell phones and communicate in high numbers via text message.
CLINIC’s new Citizenship Navigator program, funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, offers ORR grantees, including refugee resettlement offices and refugee mutual assistance associations, support and encouragement to achieve two important goals:
- To increase the number of refugees applying for naturalization;
- To increase the number of refugee resettlement organizations authorized to provide naturalization assistance to their clients.
