Ann Rodgers has been the communications director for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh and general manager of The Pittsburgh Catholic newspaper since late 2013. Previously she covered religion for The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Pittsburgh Press for a total of 25 years. She has a bachelor of science degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a master of theological studies degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Among other awards during her career in secular journalism, she received the Religion News Association’s Templeton Religion Reporter of the Year Award, the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers Association’s award for best specialized beat reporting, the Wilbur Award from the Religion Communicators Council for coverage of religious values and the Archbishop Fulton Sheen Angel Award from the Diocese of St. Petersburg for contributing to the public understanding of human dignity. She was the 2018 recipient of the William A. Reed Lifetime Achievement Award from the Religion News Association. In 2016 she and co-author Mike Aquilina received the Catholic Press Association award for best biography.
