This four-week course covers the basic components of effective immigration legal services program management. Throughout the course, participants will learn best practices in staffing, case management, and financial management, as well as strategies to acquire the necessary space, equipment and tools needed for an efficiently-operating program. An optional session on Department of Justice (DOJ) Recognition and Accreditation will also be included as the fifth week session.

Training Level: Introductory
This is an overview of best practices for program management of a charitable legal immigration services program. This course is appropriate for program staff from a wide range of organizations, including established immigration programs, ethnic and immigrant organizations, domestic violence and sexual assault coalitions and service providers, unions, social services and medical providers, and educational programs (ESL and Citizenship).
The trainers for this course are members of CLINIC’s Capacity Building section: Jeff Chenoweth (Section Director); Laura Burdick, Nathaly Perez and Helen Chen (Field Support Coordinators); and Silvana Arista (OVW Project Attorney). The course opens on October 11th with access to the e-learning course website and week one assignment. The course includes four webinars, with an optional fifth webinar, conducted on consecutive Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. Eastern starting on October 18th. Each webinar lasts approximately 90 minutes, and it is recorded and posted on the course website after the webinar is conducted. Although we encourage participants to attend the live webinars each week, you will be able to listen to and view a recording of any webinar you are unable to attend whenever you choose to do so.
Course Completion Requirements: Course participants will receive a course completion certificate if they (a) attend or view recordings of the weekly course webinar and (b) complete each weekly course quiz. You have up to two weeks after the last live webinar in the course to meet these requirements.
Registration: The training is for the staff or volunteers of Catholic Charities and other community-based organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) status. If you are registering as staff/volunteer of a community-based organization that is not a current affiliate, you must upload a copy of your IRS 501(c)(3) letter designating your agency as a nonprofit entity in the registration link above. Your registration will be confirmed upon receipt of this letter. Payment is by credit card only.

Please note that CLINIC can only issue refunds for an e-learning course until one week prior to the first day of the training.
