In this time of enhanced enforcement, this two-day family-based immigration law training provides updated information and analysis on selected topics in family-based immigration, including enhanced risks to applicants of being placed in removal proceedings if their petitions or applications are denied.
Join CLINIC attorneys Bradley Jenkins, Kristina Karpinski, Susan Schreiber and Charles Wheeler as they cover topics such as:
- A review of the new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services guidance on Notices to Appear and Requests for Evidence
- Assessing whether your client may be inadmissible for a criminal conviction or admission of a crime
- Establishing a parent/child relationship to support an immigration petition
- Updates on adjustment of status, consular processing and public charge inadmissibility
- Challenging denials of applications through appeals and motions to reopen or reconsider
Newer practitioners are encouraged to take advantage of the free introductory session on Nov. 13, as well as a fundamentals track of workshops on both days of the conference. Day Two of the conference will also include presentations on consular processing by representatives of both the National Visa Center and the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez.
Registration includes an electronic version of CLINIC’s Immigration Law and the Family handbook and continental breakfast both days. Lunch is not provided.
An application for Texas CLE is pending. This training is for the staff of Catholic Charities and other community-based organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) status, and attorneys and legal worker staff of private law offices. If you are registering as staff of a community-based organization, you must scan and email a copy of your IRS 501(c)(3) letter designating your agency as a nonprofit entity to email@example.com. Your registration will be confirmed upon receipt of this letter. If you are an attorney, please include your state bar number. Payment is by credit card only.
Space for the training is limited to 150 participants. The deadline to register is Nov. 5, 2018, or until we reach capacity.
The consular tour is now full. Note: If you are going on the tour of the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez, we do not expect to be back at the conference hotel before 3 p.m. Please keep this in mind when making flight reservations.
Please be sure to register under the correct category; all registration changes or cancellations are subject to an administrative charge of $70.00. Lodging is available at the Wyndham El Paso Airport Hotel, for $110 per day, single or double rooms. When making the reservation, call 915-778-4241 at least three weeks before the training to ensure that special rate and indicate you are coming to the “CLINIC” training. Other hotels are located nearby.
