Catholic Legal Services help hundreds of Haitians with immigration papers

Hundreds of undocumented Haitian immigrants crowded inside Notre Dame D'Haiti Catholic Church on Monday morning for help in filing applications for Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, a federal immigration program that will allow them to remain legally in the United States and obtain work permits.

Registration is now open for CLINIC’s 13th Annual Convening in New Orleans, LA at the JW Marriot in the French Quarter. With the economy still lagging, trainings can be a burden on any program’s budget, but the CLINIC Annual Convening should not be missed. Plan to be in New Orleans May 19-21.

USCCB Launches 2010 National Migration Week
Renewing Hope, Seeking Justice is the theme of the 2010 National Migration Week, held January 3 - 9. The observance began over 25 years ago by the bishops to be a moment for Catholics to take stock of the wide diversity of the Church and the ministries serving them.
Following the lead of Pope Benedict, who is focusing on “Minor Migrants and Refugees” for the 2010 World Day of Migrants and Refugees, this year's National Migration Week focuses on migrant children as a sub-theme for this year.

ABCs of Family-Based Adjustment
This workshop will describe who is eligible to adjust in the U.S under current provisions of the law and INA Section 245(i). The trainers will review the process for filing as well as the legal requirements for adjustment.
