CLINIC Signs on to Letter to HHS re: HIV/AIDS
CLINIC wrote a letter to Dept. of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius supporting the proposed rule which would remove HIV from the definition of communicable diseases of public health significance from the Federal Regulations, and thereby also removing HIV as grounds for inadmissibility to the US.

Petition for Regulations on Appointed Counsel for Immigrants in Removal
CLINIC, along with five other national immigrant advocacy organizations, signed a petition asking Attorney General Eric Holder to initiate rulemaking on the right to counsel to indigent individauls, where necessary, in removal proceedings to ensure the fundamental fairness of the proceedings.

Ruling Gives Religious Workers 'Peace of Mind' CLINIC Head Says

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- A Seattle judge's order overturning a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services policy on visas for foreign-born religious workers will give those workers "the peace of mind to continue providing important services in their communities and parishes," said the head of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network.
Court Decision Eases Immigration Rules for Religious Workers
A far reaching court decision that will allow religious workers to take the first step to petition for permanent residency and submit an application for a green card at the same time is welcome news to the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC). CLINIC represents over 1,000 religious communities and Catholic dioceses and archdioceses in their efforts to bring foreign-born religious workers to the United States to minister. The case Gabriel Ruiz-Diaz et al. vs United States of America was heard in the U.S.
