CLINIC joined a number of immigrants-rights organizations in sending a letter to Director Alejandro Mayorkas of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services asking for an improved naturalization process. A copy of the letter is below.

Newly Launched Bond Fund Partnership

Partnership to Help Low-income Immigrant Families in North Carolina

Durham, NC – The Southern Coalition for Social Justice (SCSJ) and the National Immigrant Bond Fund (NIBF) have formed a partnership to provide legal and bond assistance to persons arrested by local authorities and detained for removal proceedings.

Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938

The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 is the federal law that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping, and child labor standards.[i]  This law affects full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in federal, state and local governments.

 

The provisions of the FLSA apply to all covered employees regardless of their citizenship or work eligibility.  Courts have determined that documented and undocumented immigrants are entitled to the protections of the FLSA.[ii]
