CLINIC LAUNCHING CATHOLIC MEDIA INITIATIVE FOR CITIZENSHIP IN LOS ANGELES ON APRIL 28
"La Ciudadanía: Cambia Tu Vida"-Multi-media Initiative Unites Catholic-, Community-, and Media Organizations to Inspire 1.2 Million Eligible Angelenos to Naturalize
Los Angeles, CA -- April 26, 2012 - [En Español] -The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) is launching a first-of-its-kind series of public service announcements to encourage the 1.2 million eligible Hispanics in the Los Angeles metro area to thoughtfully consider: what does citizenship mean to you?
The extensive package of television, radio, and print PSAs, along with a dedicated naturalization help-line (855-6-CAMBIA) and an interactive website (www.cambiatuvida.us) will launch on Saturday, April 28 at 9:00am at a naturalization workshop at Our Lady of the Rosary of Talpa in Los Angeles.
CLINIC's La Ciudadanía: Cambia Tu Vida (Citizenship: Changes Your Life) campaign is a multi-year project designed to strengthen immigration legal services in Los Angeles and provide in-depth support to its immigrant community. This Spanish-language effort features compelling messages from the Most Reverend José H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles and His Eminence Roger Cardinal Mahony, Archbishop Emeritus of Los Angeles in addition to two scripted PSAs performed by actors. Cambia Tu Vida aims to engage, motivate and inform eligible lawful permanent residents (LPRs) residing in the Los Angeles area about the citizenship process and resources available in the community.
"For a legal permanent resident, the path to naturalization is personal, and often based on wishes and hopes for one's family," said Maria M. Odom, Executive Director of CLINIC. "CLINIC is honored to partner with the leadership of the Church and Catholic Charities of Los Angeles to support this personal reflection of what it means not just to the individual applicant, but also to her family and even to the community," said Odom. "We hope that Cambia Tu Vida inspires lawful permanent residents who are eligible to naturalize to take this meaningful step in their lives. Through this beautiful multimedia effort, CLINIC promotes a positive dialogue about naturalization, calling on individuals to reflect on the meaning of citizenship and the positive changes it will bring to their lives."
