Attorney (Religious Immigration Section)

The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) has an immediate opening at its headquarters in Washington, DC for an immigration attorney to provide legal services to Roman Catholic Dioceses and religious institutes bringing foreign-born religious workers to the United States.

The position requires a high level of legal responsibility, ability to analyze and apply complex immigration law, ability to develop, maintain and manage attorney –client relationships, and expertise in religious immigration law. The attorney will be responsible for carrying a substantial caseload. The applicant must be admitted to the bar and licensed to practice law and will be responsible for carrying a substantial caseload. The attorney must have immigration law experience and a strong commitment to public interest law. Fluency in a foreign language is also helpful.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Generous benefits package. The position will begin on or before June 1, 2012.

CLINIC INTERNSHIPS

The Center for Immigrant Rights

The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.’s (CLINIC) is seeking law student interns for its Advocacy section for the spring and summer sessions in 2012.

Interns will assist attorneys with administrative advocacy efforts to remedy problems faced by low-income immigrants and CLINIC member agencies and assist in our efforts to support state advocates working to combat local anti-immigrant measures.  Tasks may include:

  • Reviewing government regulations and policy memos
  • Drafting comments on federal regulations
  • Attending meetings with government agencies, hearings and other events
  • Assisting affiliate programs with individual case inquiries
  • Researching and analyzing state immigration-related legislation
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the BIA Pro Bono Project

Applicants must have strong writing and communication skills and excellent attention to detail.  These internships are ideal for students considering a career in public policy or advocacy.

Advancement, Marketing & Communications

Seeking Undergraduate Interns for 2012

The Advancement, Marketing & Communications section of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), is seeking a part time intern immediately and a full time intern during the summer to assist in various communications, website development, and marketing projects to elevate the discussion on immigration to the public.  The intern(s) will:

  • Receive diverse communication assignments including writing blogs, press releases, white papers and web pages
  • Be a part of a busy non-profit organization
  • Manage CLINIC’s Google AdWords program
  • Assist in event planning
  • Review and enhance the organization’s media list to identify the  major outlets covering immigration
  • A wide variety of other opportunities exist including attending events, policy briefings, etc.

Skills needed include strong writing and research, teamwork, flexibility, and initiative.  Interest in immigration, Catholic social teaching and public policy are a plus, as is Spanish.

The Center for Religious Immigration and Protection

The Center for Religious Immigration and Protection, a section of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), is seeking legal interns to assist its immigration attorneys.  We represent Catholic Dioceses and Religious Orders in bringing foreign-born religious workers into the U.S. to work for the Catholic Church.  The legal intern will:

  • Receive diverse immigration law assignments
  • Be a part of a busy non-profit organization, with six attorneys on the Center’s staff
  • Engage in case work including:
    • applications for nonimmigrant visas at U.S. consulates abroad;
    • applications for change of status or extension of status in the U.S.;
    • applications for legal permanent residence;
    • case management and client contact; 
    • and legal research opportunities.
  • Training on each aspect of immigration law will be provided
