About the training:
This intensive two-day training course will cover acquisition and derivation of citizenship, requirements for naturalization, including residence, physical presence, good moral character, civics and English language requirements and exemptions, disability waivers, deportability issues, oath requirements and the application process. The training is interactive with individual and group exercises.
The training is for the staff of Catholic Charities and other community-based organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) status, and attorneys and legal worker staff of private law offices. The training is intended for legal workers and lawyers new to immigration law practice, and for more experienced advocates in need of review or updates.
The training will be presented by Debbie Smith, Project Director, Immigration Advocates Network and Laura Burdick, Field Support Coordinator, CLINIC.
The training is designed for practitioners at all levels.
Cost:
- $190 per person for CLINIC affiliates; $570 office location cap ($30 fee per person for more than 3 attendees from same affiliate)
- $215 per person for staff of 501(c)(3) non-profit programs; $645 office location cap ($30 fee per person for more than 3 attendees from same office)
- $345 per person for private attorneys and their staff
Please note that the registration fee does not include the training manual. You are not required to purchase the manual. If you wish to purchase Naturalization and U.S. Citizenship: The Essential Legal Guide, 10th Edition, by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, you must pay an ADDITIONAL $100 fee.

Springhill Suites, the site of the training, has rooms available at a group rate of $89 per night. To reserve these rooms, please inform the hotel that you are attending the “Catholic Charities” training.
The training site is close to Houston Hobby Airport. This is a 3 star hotel (per Trip Advisor). You may also use a service such as www.hotwire.com to find a discounted hotel.
Parking:
Parking is complimentary onsite for those staying at the hotel.
