About the training:
This intensive two-day training course will cover acquisition and derivation of citizenship, the requirements for naturalization, including residence, physical presence, good moral character, civics and English language requirements and exemptions, disability waivers, deportability issues, oath requirements and the application process. The training is interactive with individual and group exercises.
This training is for the staff of Catholic Charities and other community-based organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) status, and attorneys and legal worker staff of private law offices. This training is intended for legal workers and lawyers new to this area of immigration law as well as more experienced practitioners in need of review or updates.
The training will be presented by Susan Schreiber, Senior Attorney with Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), and Debbie Smith, Project Director, Immigration Advocates Network, CLINIC.
Please note that the registration fee does NOT include a training manual. You are not required to purchase a manual, and other training materials will be provided. If you wish to purchase Naturalization and U.S Citizenship: The Essential Guide, 10th Edition, by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, you must pay an additional $100 fee in advance at the time of registration. Note: the manual is not available for purchase at the training.
Cost:
- $195 per person from CLINIC Affiliates; $585 cap ($30 materials fee per person for more than 3);
- $220 per person from other nonprofit programs; $660 cap ($30 materials fee per person for more than 3);
- $350 per person for private attorneys and their staff.
The deadline for registration is June 17, 2009. Note that if you are ordering the manual, you must do so when registering by June 9; after that date, it will be too late to order the book in time for receipt at the training. Only on-line registration and payment by credit card is accepted at the CLINIC web site. Space is limited and we suggest you register early. Registration may close prior to the stated deadline if the number or registrants reaches capacity. If that happens, the website will not accept your credit card payment.
